After a visit to Grandpa Les and Grandma Pam's house on Saturday, it was obvious that Maelin loves riding toys ... so we ventured to Meijers yesterday morning and bought a tricycle, and then Maelin and Baba spent some time putting it together. (As you can see, she was very helpful - ha!) She rides is all over the house and really seems to enjoy it. The bottom picture was taken just this morning, still in her jammies (and, if you look closely, with cough medicine spilled down the front of her shirt...).
We're going to get the troops ready for her first trip to the pediatrician this afternoon. It's in Bingham Farms (metro Detroit area), and the pediatrician specializes in internationally adopted children. I'm sure we'll take her to a local pediatrician most of the time, but for this first check-up, we're making the drive. She still isn't too fond of the car seat, so we're hoping that she'll take her nap on the way there!
An update on the sleep situation: we decided that we were done getting kicked and thrashed all night long, so last night we put Maelin on the air matress on the floor next to our bed. She slept straight through from 9:30pm to 4:00am, at which time she woke up to go potty. She went back to sleep in her 'bed' next to us with just a bit of help from Mama, and we all woke up happy at 7am :) The Gleesons just may survive after all! ;)
Take care-
Shonda (and Jim and Maelin)

Jim is really into enjoying what he's doing, at least he looks like he is enjoying it!! There are going to be lots of things to put together, summer is coming, a swing set is due! Isn't it nice to have a house big enough to ride their toys in. Haley used to go around and around between the kitchen family room and hallway. Now it's Heely's but there is carpeting in every room but the kitchen and her bathroom so she can't wear them in the house. Do you actually know any child who is fond of the car seat? Hope the appointment went well today. Congratulations on a good night with only one "potty trip" that had to be a blessing to sleep until 7 am. Yup! you're gonna survive ;)

Shonda, she has already got you and Jim wrapped around her little finger. It is just wonderful! Hey I knew you all were gonna make it. A peace of cake for the Shonda we know! Yeah! Tara and David.
Hey,
the mattress next to mama and baba's bed is what we had to do with Lexi! (And was she ever a kicker!!)
