Pics from Day Two

Some people have been asking for more pictures (you know who you are - grin), and I aim to please! Four more of our lovely Maelin, for your viewing pleasure. Today is Tuesday in Chongqing (Monday night in the states), so we're on day two of our adventure. We woke up this morning thinking Maelin might look over at us and wonder what the heck these strangers with funny eyes were doing laying next to her...we half expected her to cry, but she didn't. She indicated that she needed to go potty, so Mama got her up and took her. The pull-up was dry overnight, so we're happy about that!

We ate breakfast with our Chinese American friends from California and their new daughter. Maelin likes chicken sausage, runny eggs, and pancakes :) We sat next to three American couples who live in Germany (Air Force) that each adopted a 10- to 11-month-old baby yesterday. Jim MAY have talked the guy's ear off about Germany. Just maybe ;)

Jim keeps commenting about how nice all of the people are here. Everyone we've met has been very friendly and helpful, especially since we're foreigners in their country, adopting one of their children, and don't speak a lick of Chinese!

Now that we have Maelin, we're ready to come home!! But no such luck. We are in Chongqing until Friday waiting for her passport. We pick it up Friday afternoon and head to the airport, where the three of us head to Guangzhou. We think it's about a 1 1/2 hour flight.

Thanks so much for all of the comments -- we love reading from friends and family from home! More later-

Love,
Mama, Baba, and Maelin

Hi, was working on an ASL lesson and my mind wandered, no wonder it's taking so long to learn!!
~Connie

Came up with this, hope you enjoy.

God from the beginning your life He planned,
Sweet little one from a far away land.
You captured the hearts of parents anew,
The dreams they dreamed now came true.

They chose Maelin for the name you'll be known,
It will be there way after you've grown.
Such a sweet name little one from a far,
God has it written up there on a star.

Grandmas and Grandpas, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins,
Are waiting with big hugs and kisses by dozens.
Friends too anxiously waiting are we,
For Baba and Mama to bring you for us to see.

Everyone is so happy for what you've all become,
God from the beginning knew what had to be done.
He gave you all each other to be,
A precious, loving, devoted Family.

Welcome home sweet little one from a far away land.

Miss Maelin keeps getting cuter with each pic you post. Lauren is geeked that she sucks two fingers on her left hand, just like her. I find myself checking this blog every couple of hours, I have become obsessed. Can't wait to hug her, I'll bribe her with suckers if I have to. It's rainy here today, but I have a smile on my face thinking of your new family. Counting the days until you return, Auntie Shell

We are soooo happy for you guys! Maelin is absolutely adorable. Can she be Adam's girlfriend? And she's potty trained? I am very jealous. We can't wait for you to get home so we can meet the newest Gleeson family member. Keep posting the pictures. Like Shelly said, it's become an obsession for some of us back home.
