at the Civil Affairs Office
Here are two more pictures from "Gotcha Day." The one at the top is just a couple of minutes after Maelin arrived. The driver (who brought her to the Civil Affairs Office) is behind her. I'm trying to bribe her with toys, while the driver kept telling her that we were her new mama and baba. A few minutes later, she let us hold her...but only with the security of the new mei mei (baby doll) and a sucker!!

Yes, more pictures :-) that's what I'm talking about!!
How did your first night together go? How much longer do you stay in China? How much support/contact do you have with the adoption people? foster home? others??
Thanks for blogging your journey, it is very cool to be in contact and know what is happening each day. Shonda - perhaps we should blog at work...I think we would communicate more that way. ;-)

Hey, Jim! You look like a natural!
We are happy that everything has started out smoothly. I totally love the name (Maelin). Trust me, it is much better than Lucy Lui. Jay agrees.
Cannot wait to see you all back home.
Love, Jay and Tammy
Congrats Jim & Shonda!
Jacob says Maelin looks soooo cute! Can't wait for the boys to meet their new cousin.
Good Luck with the rest of your trip!
Love - Jon, Laura, Jacob & Lucas
So glad the transition is going well.
Am thinking of you often.
